Albany Technical College

This school is located in Albany. The Associate of Health Information Technology degree can be completed with 64 credit hours. Students in the program will study a wide variety of topics in the course, including pharmacotherapy, health information technology, healthcare statistics and computer applications.

Athens Technical College

An Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology degree is available from this college, located in Athens. This program is accredited by CAHIM, or the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education. Students can expect to take courses such as health record content and structure, coding and classification, healthcare management and revenue cycle management. Restricted elective courses are also available.

Chattahoochee Technical College

Chattahoochee Technical College is located in Marietta. This school offers an Associate of Applied Science in Electrical/Computer Engineering Technology program with a relevant specialization area in biomedical engineering technology. Students have the opportunity to pursue an internship in the program. Required courses for the program include medical equipment function and operation, digital systems and anatomy and physiology.

Georgia Institute of Technology - Main Campus

This school, located in Atlanta, offers a Master of Science in Bioinformatics and a Doctor of Philosophy in Bioinformatics. Georgia Northwestern Technical College

Georgia Northwestern Technical College is located in Rome. The Associate of Health Information Technology program is also accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education. Upon successful completion of the program, students are able to pursue the certification exam. Some required courses include healthcare management, healthcare statistics and pharmacotherapy.

Gwinnett Technical College

Another college with a relevant degree program is Gwinnett Technical College, located in Lawrenceville. The Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology program consists of 64 credit hours, and the curriculum includes topics such as revenue cycle management, medical terminology and legal aspects of healthcare. Prerequisite courses must be satisfactorily completed prior to beginning the program.

University of Georgia

University of Georgia is another school option located in Athens. The university's Institute of Bioinformatics offers a Master of Science in Bioinformatics or a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics. Ph.D. students can pursue assistantship programs. The master's degree program can be completed with or without a thesis. Ph.D. students are required to successfully pass an examination in the 3rd year of the program. Students who have passed the exam write and defend a dissertation.

West Georgia Technical College

This institution is found in Waco. An Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Management Technology degree program can be earned from this college. Students of the program receive training in areas such as computer technology, health insurance and information management. Curriculum courses include revenue cycle management and human pathological conditions in the medical office.

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is located in Valdosta.
