Health Information Technology - Certificate of Completion

Salt Lake Community College's health information technology program is designed to train students to handle medical histories, exam results, treatment records and symptom information. Students are exposed to electronic health records and security procedures through courses like health informatics, pathophysiology, diagnosis coding and health care data structures. Students must complete 34 credits to obtain the certificate, which can usually be done in three semesters. Program graduates can take the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam that's offered by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
