Atlanta Technical College

Atlanta Technical College is comprised of 5 departments: industrial and transportation technologies; business and public service technologies; public safety technologies; health technologies and public safety technologies; and industrial technologies. The heating and air conditioning programs are found in the industrial and transportation technologies department.

Technical Certificate of Credit in Air Conditioning Technician Assistant

Applicants to this program must be at least 16 years old and have either high school diplomas or GEDs. Students must also achieve minimal scores on placement exams. Once admitted, students take classes that may cover topics like refrigeration systems and their parts, heat transfer and types of air conditioning units.

Technical Certificate of Credit in Heating and Air Conditioning Installation Technician

This program requires the same age, testing and education as the AC technician assistant program. This 3-course program focuses on the concepts necessary to install heating and AC systems. In addition to learning about the basics of refrigeration, students may learn about the electrical components of AC units, code regulations and the steps to putting in residential AC units.

Diploma in Air Conditioning Technology

Applicants to this program must meet the same admission requirements as those applying to the certificate programs. This program has 51 credits and 8 of them are acquired through general education classes. The remaining 43 credits include classes that cover topics like the parts of an AC system, electrical components, heat pumps and AC repair.

Georgia Piedmont Technical College

GPTC has several campuses and centers around the greater Atlanta area, including Clarkston, Covington, Lithonia and Doraville, GA. The AC and heating programs are found within the industrial and occupational technologies division.

Technical Certificate of Credit in Air Conditioning Technician's Assistant

Associate of Applied Science in Air Conditioning Technology

Students in this program may learn to work with residential and small commercial heating and AC units. This 66-credit program includes the same core classes as the diploma program; however, 6 general education classes are required for this program, and the diploma program requires 3.

Chattahoochee Technical College

CTC is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
