Wayne State University
Wayne State University is a public research institution located in Detroit. The Nutrition and Food Science Department, which is a part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs in nutrition and food science, as well as dietetics. Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science

Electives are available in food and nutrition, consumer behavior and therapeutic nutrition for professionals.
Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Service Management
The Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Service Management program includes courses in human nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, nutrition assessment and food service sanitation. Support courses are available in microbiology and human physiology. To be admitted, applicants must complete courses in human physiology, organic chemistry, introductory microbiology, medical terminology, experimental foods and human nutrition principles. Courses for the major include nutrition therapy, metabolism, life cycle nutrition, food systems management and a seminar in dietetics. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible for the dietitian registration examination.
Master of Science in Dietetics
The 2-year program includes courses in nutrition therapy, complementary and alternative medicine, food systems, nutrient metabolism and the ties between food and culture. Students also explore statistics, complete food management experiences and undertake a nutrition therapy experience. Graduates are eligible for the Credentialing Examination for Registered Dietitians, which is available through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Out-of-state students can also enroll in this program through an online option.
Master of Science in Human Nutrition
The Master of Science in Human Nutrition program is an online program aimed at individuals who are already registered dietitians, since it does not provide training for the dietitian registration exam. The program requires 30-36 credit hours and includes studies in vitamins and minerals, advanced topics in nutrition, nutrition support, sports nutrition, cultural nutrition, medical nutrition therapy and promotion of community nutrition services. Learners select from a thesis or a research option.
