Manchester Community College is a public school located in the city of Manchester, New Hampshire. The school recommends that incoming students interested in HVAC training complete math and physics courses along with courses in algebra. Students should also have good manual dexterity and be able to lift heavy objects.
Students who are strictly interested in the air conditioning and refrigeration components of the HVAC industry can enroll in the 26-hour basic certificate program. Course topics cover residential and commercial heat pumps, refrigeration and air conditioning. Each topic includes laboratory experiences to complement the classroom lectures.
Manchester Community College offers a certificate program for students who are interested in working with heating systems. This program also consists of 26 credit hours and covers heating fundamentals, hydronic and steam systems, warm air systems and related electricity. Coursework for this program is accompanied by laboratory requirements.
This school also has an associate's degree program in heating, ventilation and air conditioning. This 70-credit HVAC program contains lectures and labs that train students to work with climate control systems as well as install and repair commercial or residential air conditioning, heating and refrigeration units. Courses cover refrigeration theory, electricity, heating theory, geometry and physics. The associate's degree program has articulation agreements with four schools in the region, which allow students who complete the program to transfer and continue their studies at the bachelor's level.
