According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of industrial designers is expected to increase by 2% between 2014 and 2024, a growth rate that's slower than average across all professions. The BLS also reported that the median annual salary among all commercial designers and industrial designers in 2015 was $67,130.

Aspiring industrial designers can obtain an undergraduate degree in a program that incorporates both theory of design as well as the necessary knowledge and skills needed for a career in the field.
