University of Memphis
The interior architecture program at UM is offered through the Department of Architecture in the College of Communication and Fine Arts and is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation. All new interior architecture students must complete a candidacy review and a portfolio evaluation before being admitted to the program.
Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture
Sustainable design, construction documents and design visualization are some of the courses taken in this program. Students complete several foundation studios, and then take courses covering business technology, computer apps and survey of interiors and furniture. There are several additional studio classes that cover theoretical designs. Many of the interior design courses have prerequisites, and some courses require additional fees.
Students can earn course credit for completing an internship with a design firm or working with design faculty. Students must complete 120 semester hours to earn the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture.
