University of Alaska-Southeast

The University of Alaska-Southeast is a public, four-year university with three campuses. The main campus is in Juneau, Alaska's capital city. Most of the campus is located between Auke Bay and Auke Lake, although there is a Technical Education Center located in downtown Juneau.

College affordability is a major concern for many students. As of the 2015-2016 school year, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) reported the following costs for students at the University of Alaska-Southeast.

According to the NCES, the total student population at the Juneau campus of UAS is 2,800 students. The majority of students are undergraduates: there are 2,475 undergraduates and only 325 graduate students currently enrolled. Because UAS is a relatively small school, it offers more personalized instruction. The student-to-faculty ratio is 12 to 1, so it's not uncommon for professors to call you by name, and you can choose to take small, seminar-style classes.

Acceptance Rate

As of fall 2015, the acceptance rate at the University of Alaska-Southeast was 49 percent. Students are required to submit a secondary school transcript and GPA. You don't have to submit SAT or ACT test scores, but it's recommended. If you've taken AP classes or dual credit courses, the school will count those credits toward your degree.

Graduation Rate

A school's graduation rate can be an important indicator of academic quality. The NCES calculates this figure based on the proportion of full-time undergraduate students who finish their degrees within 150% of the expected completion time.
