These schools provide non-credit courses as well as full certificate or degree programs that help students develop career-related or personal interest skills. College of Southern Nevada's Night School Programs
The College of Southern Nevada is the largest postsecondary institution in the state. Students can pursue a certificate or degree program in more than 90 areas of study. Night school options are available in such areas as AutoCAD training, dialysis patient care technology, fire science, and creative writing.
AutoCAD Certificate or Associate's Degree
Students interested in night classes can pursue a certificate or an associate's degree in CAD technology, which includes courses in introductory and intermediate AutoCAD, CADD systems management and 3-dimensional printing. These classes cover such topics as 2-dimensional design and drawing, using CAD in a Windows environment and back up procedures.
Dialysis Patient Care Technology Program
This program trains students for careers as dialysis patient care technicians. The curriculum includes clinical experience as well as lab work and classroom study. Students who complete the program are eligible for national certification.
Fire Science Program
A number of courses from the fire science department are offered in the evenings, including an introductory course in fire science, the Nevada firefighter I course and a basic wildland firefighting course. Many of the department's courses are offered online as well.
Creative Writing Course
Evening courses in creative writing include courses focused on publishing - including self-publishing and e-publishing - as well as blog writing, short story writing and memoir writing. A general class on spelling, punctuation and grammar is also available in the evening.
University of Nevada - Las Vegas Night School Program
The University of Nevada - Las Vegas offers an evening program through its Lee Business School. The business school serves more than 4,000 students and offers nine undergraduate and five graduate degrees, as well as an executive Master of Business Administration.
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
This MBA part-time evening program provides instruction in areas such as data modeling and analysis, applied economics analysis and financial decision making. Students complete a capstone course in strategic management and can choose from several elective courses covering topics like customer satisfaction, portfolio management, and risk management.
Clark County Public Schools
Clark County encompasses Las Vegas and the surrounding towns and cities on the southern tip of Nevada, such as Henderson and Mesquite. More than 45 schools within the district offer courses for adults.
Adult High School Program
Students age 17 and older who do not yet hold a high school diploma or HSE can take courses to complete their high school education. There are also options for concurrent students who want to make up high school credits, although students in standard high schools may need to obtain written permission from parents and their principal, as well as pay a fee. Adult students need not pay a fee for classes, although taking the HSE exam costs $65.
