Long Beach School for Adults' Education Programs
The Long Beach School for Adults (LBSA) is part of the Long Beach Unified School District. LBSA offers High School Equivalency programs, English as a Second Language (ESL) courses, an animal care internship, and a Certified Nursing Assistant program. Courses are offered at the school's Willow Campus.
High School Equivalency Programs
LBSA offers High School Equivalency programs that will prepare adults for the High School Equivalency test. This test will assess how well adults know and understand five basic areas of study: math, writing, reading, social studies, and science. LBSA also offers a Home Study Program for those who cannot attend classes at the school's Willow Campus. This is a preparatory course for the High School Equivalency test; however, adults will take a pre-test before they're assigned coursework that they can take and complete at home, on their own time.
English as a Second Language Courses
ESL courses are offered at the Beginning Low, Beginning High, Intermediate Low, Intermediate High/Advanced levels. Separate courses cover conversation, grammar and pronunciation.
Animal Care Internship
LBSA offers animal lovers a chance for a career in this animal care with this internship program. The program is conducted in 16-week courses, taken twice a week.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program
The CNA program meets Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM 12:30 PM, for a period of nine weeks. Students can earn credit towards LVN/RN programs via the Certified Nursing Assistant program, which is offered as a first-come, first-serve course.
Long Beach City College's Adult Education Programs
Long Beach City College (LBCC) is a 2-year public institution that offers certificate programs and associate degrees in addition to its adult education services. English as a Second Language Courses
