Quinsigamond Community College

Established in 1963, Quinsigamond Community College educates more than 13,000 students annually through over 120 certificate and degree programs. Quinsigamond Community College offers students a certificate in practical nursing that meets the requirements of Massachusetts nursing statutes and regulations.

Practical Nursing Certificate

A practical nursing certificate prepares individuals for employment as licensed practical nurses in healthcare facilities, such as acute and long-term care clinics, rehabilitation centers and doctor's offices. Students are required to take courses in social sciences and biological sciences, including psychology, pharmacology, practical nursing trends, life span development and pediatric nursing. Clinical experiences and laboratory practice are included. After completing this program, graduates can go on to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN).

North Shore Community College

North Shore Community College is one of the oldest community colleges in Massachusetts. In addition to its Danvers location, North Shore Community College has campuses in Lynn and Beverly. The curriculum of the LPN program meets the requirements set forth by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.

Practical Nursing Certificate

Admission into this program is selective and students must submit proof a high school diploma or GED, passing scores on the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) and three references. The curriculum utilizes classroom, lab and clinical experiences to educated students in technical competencies and topic areas such as microbiology, nutrition, physiology, surgical nursing and pharmacology. Upon completion of this program, graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN to qualify for positions in community health care and rehabilitation settings.
