In the state of Oregon, students can find marketing programs at the associate, bachelor's and master's degree levels. Clackamas Community College
Located in Oregon City, this college offers a certificate program in marketing. Students take basic business and marketing courses in preparation for entry-level work in market research, retail sales and advertising. The college also has an associate's degree program in business with the chance to complete a certificate in marketing under the AAS. Students in the associate's program learn about retailing, market research, business law and financial management.
Concordia University - Portland
Concordia University - Portland has a minor in marketing, which gives students a chance to learn about the foundational principles involved in consumer behavior, market research and product life cycles. The school also offers a marketing bachelor's program that includes business, marketing and finance courses. Students must also choose one of the following specializations: accounting finance, sports management, entrepreneurship, environmental management or international management. Undergraduate students are required to complete an internship for practical experience.
George Fox University
Found in Newberg, this university has a marketing minor that requires students to take basic courses in business and marketing. Students can also choose the Bachelor of Arts in Marketing degree program that includes a business capstone experience to go along with courses in accounting, statistics, consumer behavior, marketing communications and marketing research. Students are encouraged to complete internships and field experiences for a well-rounded education in marketing.
Klamath Community College
Located in Klamath Falls, this college offers a certificate in marketing and sales as well as an associate's degree program in business administration with a concentration in marketing and sales. Students in the certificate program may take courses like social media marketing, retailing, management fundamentals and marketing. The associate's program includes courses in marketing, sales and advertising. Associate's program students are required to complete a cooperative work experience in business as well.
Oregon Institute of Technology
This school is also found in Klamath Falls, and it has a bachelor's degree in management with an option for students to specialize in marketing. Students receive a strong foundation in business management and marketing and may take courses like managerial accounting, consumer behavior, sales, global marketing and product development. The program also features a senior design project.
Oregon State University
Located in Corvallis, Oregon State University offers a bachelor's degree program in marketing that covers marketing policy, consumer behavior and marketing research. The marketing faculty have contributed to marketing journals and worked with Fortune 500 companies. The university also offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing. Graduate students must complete general MBA, marketing management, market research and experiential courses.
Portland Community College
Portland Community College is located in Portland and has an associate's degree in marketing that is intended for students planning on entering the workforce and not transferring to a four-year school. Students take 92 credits of coursework in accounting, business, business law, sales, advertising and international marketing. The program includes a business experience course as well. Students can also enroll in the marketing certificate program, which provides courses similar to the associate's degree program but only requires the completion of 45 credits.
Portland State University
This university offers a major in marketing in Portland. Some of the required courses include consumer behavior, marketing research and marketing strategy. The major program also provides three tracks: marketing information/technology, food/consumer package goods marketing and global marketing management.
Umpqua Community College
Located in Roseburg, this college has an associate's degree in marketing that takes two years to complete. Students may complete courses in business, business leadership, marketing, retailing and salesmanship. Six credits of cooperative work experience are also required.
University of Portland
Another Portland school, the University of Portland offers a bachelor's degree in marketing, and students receive basic training in business, marketing and economic sustainability. This institution also has an MBA program with a concentration in marketing. MBA students are required to complete core courses, an international experience and a capstone course. Finally, students who already have an MBA can choose the post-MBA certificate program in marketing. This certificate program includes courses like promotion management, sales, consumer behavior and applied marketing strategies.
