Davidson County Community College (DCCC) is a 2-year public school that offers a variety of associate degree, diploma and certificate programs. The therapeutic massage diploma and associate degree are two of several health and wellness programs within DCCC's School of Health, Wellness and Public Safety.

Therapeutic Massage Diploma

Full-time students can earn their massage therapy diploma from Davidson County Community College in only two semesters. Required courses include basic anatomy, therapeutic massage fundamentals, psychology, ethics and massage applications. Upon graduation, students are prepared to use different massage therapy techniques to help heal and ease their patients' pain.

Therapeutic Massage - Associate in Applied Science

The Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree program can be completed in five semesters. The coursework includes most of the components covered within the diploma program. Studies within the A.A.S. degree include advanced massage skills, nutrition, communication, two electives in the social sciences and humanities and a class in pathophysiology.

Forsyth Technical Community College

Forsyth Technical Community College offers a variety of associate degree, certificate and diploma programs, each of which can be completed in two years or less. Therapeutic Massage Diploma

The full-time program involves day classes for three semesters, whereas the part-time evening program takes five semesters to complete. In addition to classes in massage techniques, students take basic courses in anatomy, psychology and business. A course providing clinical experience is also included.

Associate in Applied Science in Therapeutic Massage

The full-time associate degree program in therapeutic massage prepares students for careers as massage therapists in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, spas, health departments, sports clubs and massage clinics. The program includes all the courses of the diploma program with additional training in advanced massage techniques. Students also have more opportunities for clinical and work experience.

Therapeutic Massage - Massage Practitioner I

The Therapeutic Massage - Massage Practitioner I certificate program consists of 16 credits of coursework. Studies include a writing class in addition to two courses focusing on massage fundamentals. The format of the program allows students to take three courses during the spring or fall semesters followed by the final course during either the summer or spring term.

Therapeutic Massage - Massage Practitioner II

The Therapeutic Massage - Massage Practitioner II certificate program consists of 16 credits of coursework. This program is more advanced than the previous Practitioner I, including studies focusing on higher-level massage applications. Students complete two classes during the spring term, which includes a course on massage therapy in clinical settings. The summer term completes the program with two additional classes, including a course in ethics.
