Students looking to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in New Jersey have plenty of options from which to choose through 2-year and 4-year schools. MBAs may be offered in an array of concentrations and can often be taken online. The education required for admission is a bachelor's degree. While there are more than 20 schools that offer an MBA degree, this article will cover 12 of the largest options.


Centenary College

Centenary College is found in Hackettstown and offers accelerated online, accelerated on-campus and Saturday MBA program options. The MBA program is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education. Applicants aren't required to have GRE or GMAT scores in order to be eligible for entry into the accelerated or online programs. Students who choose to earn their degree on Saturdays can do so in roughly 25 months.

Fairleigh Dickinson University - Metropolitan Campus

Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck has a variety of specializations for MBA students to choose from, including marketing, management, accounting, pharmaceutical management and entrepreneurship. The school's campus in Madison also offers MBA programs. Those who don't wish to follow a specialization have the option of customizing their own course plan. The program has an accelerated format for students who want to earn their degree in 15 months, and there's also an all-day Saturday program for individuals who would like to earn their degree in less than 21 months. The MBA core includes courses in corporate finance, strategic marketing and managerial economics.

Kean University

Kean University is found in Union and has a global management MBA program that prepares students for a global business environment. Students can either choose the regular global management MBA program or the executive program. The regular program includes an internship and a simulation in the core knowledge curriculum, while the executive program offers the simulation as a capstone course. The executive program requires at least 42 credits of coursework, and the regular program may require up to 60 credits.

Montclair State University

Montclair is home to Montclair State University, which allows students to earn an MBA degree in 18 or 24 months during the evenings or on weekends. The school also has a post-MBA certificate for students who are interested in pursuing the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. Studies in the post-MBA accounting program include auditing concepts, fundamentals of federal taxation and contemporary issues in financial accounting. The MBA program is taught in a cohort format so students can learn and progress as a group. All of the MBA formats include an international study trip that lasts for up to 10 days.

New Jersey City University

New Jersey City University is found in Jersey City. MBA specialization areas include marketing, finance and organizational management and leadership. This program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs and includes courses in decision analysis, working capital management, banking relationships and corporate financial management. Students also get to complete an interdisciplinary capstone project.

New Jersey Institute of Technology

This school in Newark offers a 48-credit MBA in Management Technology program with concentration options in finance, marketing or management information systems. This Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)-accredited program can be completed in part- or full-time formats. Required core courses include strategic management, corporate finance and information systems. Students then get to choose seven total elective courses, three of which are focused on the concentration that was selected.

Rowan University

Glassboro's Rowan University features online and on-campus MBA programs. The school's business programs have been accredited by the AACSB. The MBA program offers a number of concentration options, such as finance, management, accounting and marketing. Students must complete 27 credits of core courses, which cover topics like managerial decision making and management information systems. Those who didn't complete specific courses at the undergraduate level may need to finish a series of foundation courses before beginning on the core coursework.

Rutgers University - New Brunswick

Rutgers University is found in New Brunswick and offers a variety of programs, including a full-time MBA, flexible MBA and dual degree MBA. Degree programs that can be pursued along with the MBA include a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), Master of Public Policy (MPP) and Master of Public Health (MPH). Students also have the option of customizing their degree concentration if they choose not to select one that's already offered. Standard concentration options include finance, entrepreneurship, supply chain management and global business. In addition to an MBA Student Organization, Rutgers University also offers a Black and Hispanic MBA Association, Global Business Club and Corporate Finance Club.

Rutgers University - Newark

Students who decide to pursue an MBA at the Rutgers University campus in Newark have the same options as students at the New Brunswick campus, with the addition of dual degree options that lead to a Juris Doctor (JD) or a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences in addition to the MBA. This campus features traditional and flexible MBA program options, and students can also opt for a unique concentration if they don't want to select any of the standard options available.

Seton Hall University

South Orange's Seton Hall University has a career center for students in search of internships or employment. The MBA program is accredited by the AACSB and includes a special service project. Individuals must complete 42 credits of coursework and can finish the program within 18 months. In addition to several other specializations, this school also offers a rare sports management specialization.

Thomas Edison State College

Thomas Edison State College is found in Trenton and offers an online MBA program that can be completed in 18 months. Core courses consist of global strategic management, ethics for management, management communication and strategic operations management. The college offers unique concentrations in data analytics and healthcare management in addition to standard concentrations like finance and marketing. Students can also earn credit for information that they already know.

William Paterson University of New Jersey

Wayne is home to William Paterson University of New Jersey, which features an AACSB-approved MBA program. Students take core courses in economic analysis, financial management and management information systems. Depending on a student's chosen concentration, the MBA program can prepare students to pursue the CPA or Chartered Financial Analyst designations. Students can also expect to take seminar and independent study courses.
