Within South Florida, various universities provide Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree programs with options to study in multiple concentration areas, such as accounting, finance, global business, marketing, management, information systems or health services management. MBA programs are also found in combination with other graduate degree programs, such as those in nursing, sports management or medicine.

MBA students may take courses in a traditional classroom setting or online, and programs are administered on full-time and part-time bases. Executive Master in Business Administration (EMBA) programs are designed for working professionals and are held on weekends for maximum flexibility. These programs typically require 3-5 years of administrative work experience. Professional MBA programs are also meant for working individuals and so are administered during the week in the evenings. Depending on the program pace, an MBA can be earned in 1-2 years of study. Listed below are profiles of ten of the largest public and private universities in South Florida offering MBA programs.

Barry University

Miami Shores' Barry University offers an MBA degree program with six specializations, including accounting, finance, health services, international business, management, and marketing. Additionally, students may choose a general course of curriculum. Dual-degree options include combining an MBA degree with a master's degree in either nursing, podiatric medicine, or sports management. MBA program coursework is offered day and night, and students may attend full-time or part-time. Recently, the school began partnering with various foreign universities to offer an international double-degree program, which allows international students to earn an MBA at Barry University as well as at their home university.

Florida Atlantic University

Located in Boca Raton, the university provides a full-time and part-time MBA program, including a sports management specialization. In addition, the school offers a professional and executive MBA program. Students may attend the traditional MBA program at the Boca Raton campus, the Davie Campus, or online. Sports management students must hold employment or internship within the sports industry throughout the program. Both, the professional MBA and EMBA program require 23 months of study to complete. The professional MBA program meets twice a week from 6:15pm-10:00pm, and applicants must have four years of work experience prior to attending the program. Likewise, the EMBA program meets once every three weeks on Saturday and Sunday, and applicants must have five years of prior work experience.

Florida Gulf Coast University

Fort Myers-based, the university provides a traditional and distance education MBA program with concentrations including finance, general management, information systems, marketing, and general interdisciplinary. Students complete 24 credits of foundational courses, 21 credits of core courses, and 9 credits in specialization courses. To be considered for admission, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in upper-division undergraduate coursework (final 60 credits) or score at least a 500 on the GRE. Likewise, students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA throughout the program. FGCU also offers an EMBA program that includes 12 courses, which are completed in two years. EMBA classes are held on alternating Fridays and Saturdays.

Florida Institute of Technology

Located in Melbourne, the institute offers a traditional and online MBA program, which has concentrations in various areas of focus. Applicants must submit academic and work experience, references, and a statement of academic purpose. The GMAT is not required, but it is strongly encouraged. Students are required to take the foundational courses during the first semester of the program. The accounting emphasis for CPA certification is specifically designed to prepare students for the Uniformed Certified Public Accountant examination.

Keiser University - Ft. Lauderdale

Keiser University - Ft. Lauderdale provides an MBA program with concentrations in accounting, health services management, managerial leadership, information security, international business, and marketing. Also, the school offers exclusive MBA programs that are administered in Spanish and Mandarin. The MBA program is a traditional classroom program; however, the Spanish and Mandarin programs are available online. Students take 30 credit hours in general business and 12 credit hours in an area of concentration. The school requires that students complete general curriculum courses before beginning area of concentration classes.

Nova Southeastern University

Fort Lauderdale's Nova Southeastern University has an MBA program as well as a Master of International Business Administration (MIBA). Both programs have multiple concentration areas and are offered on campus and online. Concentration areas include accounting, corporate finance, marketing, sports management, statistics, and various other specializations. The master's of international business administration differs from a traditional MBA program as the international program focuses upon the global market place. Students may transfer credits from a regionally accredited university if they have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Palm Beach Atlantic University

Based in West Palm Beach, the university offers an evening MBA program, and classes are held once a week from 6pm-10pm. Typically, students need 1-2 years to complete the 36-credit program. Program coursework includes foundational classes in business statistics, financial accounting, managerial accounting, and microeconomics. Students learn about corporate responsibility, the role of business in society, and concepts of international business, marketing, leadership, and research methods.

St. Thomas University

St. Thomas University, located in Miami Gardens, operates a full-time and part-time MBA program with concentrations in accounting, entrepreneurship, human resources, international business, management, and sports administration. Individuals may need to take preparatory classes in accounting, business statistics, and economics if undergraduate coursework is lacking. Students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA throughout the program.

University of Miami

Based in Coral Gables, the university has various options, concentrations, and degree schedules for students seeking an MBA degree. The full-time program is 56 credits and offers concentrations in eight areas. Also, three joint degree programs are offered in conjunction with an MBA. The one-year MBA program, designed for individuals with a bachelor's degree in business, consists of four to six courses per term. Students complete the program in two semesters and each semester has two seven-week terms. Furthermore, the school offers an EMBA program.

In the accelerated MBA in real estate program students participate in an internship prior to the first semester of classes as well as in between the first and second semester of the program. Additionally, the MBA for working professionals may be obtained in conjunction with a master's degree in industrial engineering. Starting in November 2013, the school will offer an MBA program exclusively in Spanish.

University of South Florida - Sarasota-Manatee

Sarasota's University of South Florida campus operates a full-time and part-time MBA program, which consists of multiple concentration areas. Students may choose business concentrations such as accounting, finance, and marketing or non-business concentrations like environmental sustainability, health care, and hospitality management. Enrollment for the program takes place in both the fall and spring semesters, and students attending the program on a full-time basis can expect to graduate within 20 months. All classes are administered on Saturdays from 8am-6pm.
