Several schools in Georgia offer media production degree, diploma or certificate programs, and most of these programs offer specialization areas. Albany Technical College

Students at this college in Albany can pursue either diploma or associate's degree programs in design and media production technology; they also can select one of several related certificate programs. Core classes in the diploma and degree program include media production and design basics, vector drawing and raster imaging. Additionally, design and media production technology students must select a specialization from graphic design and prepress, Web interface design or printing operations.

Students can earn a certificate to enhance a design and media production technology program or on a standalone basis. Certificate programs may train students to become design and media production specialists, graphic design and prepress technicians, Web interface design technicians, photographers, digital illustration specialists, printing operations personnel or advertising layout specialists.

Atlanta Technical College

This 2-year college in Atlanta offers certificate, diploma and degree programs through its design and media production technology department. The diploma and degree programs offer similar coursework, but the degree program requires additional general education and specialized production courses. Both programs require students to select a specialization from graphic design and prepress, Web interface design, motion graphics, computer animation or printing operations. The selected specialty area determines the majority of media production-related coursework. Students can also complete a 22-24 credit technical certificate in digital illustration or graphic design and prepress.

Central Georgia Technical College

At this Macon-based college, there are two certificate, one diploma and one associate's degree program related to design and media production. The certificate programs prepare students for careers as design and media production specialists or motion graphics assistants. The diploma and associate's degree programs have nearly identical coursework requirements, including classes in vector graphics, video editing, raster imaging, video compositing and broadcast animation. The diploma program requires 51 credit hours, however, while the degree program requires 70. Students in both programs also complete electives in topics like interface design, Web animation and 3-D modeling. Students can also participate in media production internships or practicum projects.

Students can pursue a production-related diploma or degree program at this college in Marietta. The school offers a diploma and an associate's degree in digital media production technology. Students pursuing the diploma are only required to complete 51 units of coursework, while individuals in the associate's program have to take 66 units. Statesboro-based Georgia Southern University offers a 126-credit hour Bachelor of Science in Multimedia Communication program with an emphasis in production that can prepare students for careers in traditional broadcast and new media. Course offerings include video production and editing, broadcast technology, field production, lighting techniques, audio production and Web software. Additionally, internships are available. Students majoring in multimedia communication also have the option to select an emphasis in information or film.

Although Lanier Technical College's main campus is situated in Oakwood, its design and media production technology programs are only available at its Forsyth campus. The diploma requires 51 credits, while the degree program has 61 credits. In addition, the school offers short certificate programs that range from 16-35 credits in graphic design and prepress, design and media production, advertising layout specialist, printing operations and digital illustration specialist.
