Gateway Technical College

Serving three counties in Southeastern Wisconsin, Gateway Technical College offers a two-semester diploma program in medical assisting. This program includes classroom lectures, lab studies and 160 hours of hands-on training at clinical sites.

Medical Assistant Technical Diploma

Gateway Technical College's medical assistant program is offered at the Racine, Kenosha, and Elkhorn campuses. Students take courses in medical office insurance and finance, medical law and ethics, healthcare computing and medical terminology. A four-week practicum must be completed following the end of the second semester. Applicants must complete WI residency forms and take placement tests in reading, writing and math; high school diplomas or equivalent are also required. Students must show proof of health examinations and completion of medic first aid and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) courses.

Milwaukee Area Technical College

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is a public college with four campus locations. The medical assistant program, held at the downtown Milwaukee campus, is a two-semester program that covers both clinical and office procedures through coursework and a practicum.
