Allegany College of Maryland can be found in Cumberland. This school offers an associate degree program, as well as a certificate program in medical laboratory technology. Students can pursue a traditional medical laboratory technology degree program that provides students with a general overview of equipment, practices and necessary skills.

The school also offers a biotechnology degree curriculum and a biotechnology certificate curriculum. Both of these programs are designed for students specifically interested in biotechnology work. Students can also enroll in a 12-month fast-track curriculum that is designed for students who have already completed general education requirements and only need to take their lab technology courses to obtain their degree.

Each program features courses that will help students train for lab work. For example, students will take classes like medical laboratory techniques, immunohematology and biotechnology. Additionally, students also have the opportunity to complete medical laboratory internships and complete clinical skills training.

Anne Arundel Community College

Anne Arundel Community College, located in Arnold, also offers an associate degree program in medical laboratory technology. In addition to preparing students for work, this program will also help prepare students to transfer into a bachelor's degree program in the field. Students take courses in microbiology, chemistry, psychology, hematology and immunology.

College of Southern Maryland

La Plata is home of the College of Southern Maryland, which offers a comprehensive training program in medical laboratory technology. This associate degree program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) and trains students for professional lab work. Students are trained to in clinical practices like urinalysis, hematology and immunohematology. The program curriculum also includes lab courses and generalized clinical practice courses.

The Community College of Baltimore County

This Baltimore college offers an associate of applied science in medical laboratory technology. This program requires students to complete 68 credits worth of classes. The curriculum includes both classroom-based and laboratory instruction. Students are trained in areas like chemistry, biology and hematology. The program also includes four clinical internships in clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology and immunology.

Morgan State University

This Baltimore school also features a bachelor's degree program in medical technology. The program is divided into pre-professional and professional phases. Students begin their medical technology courses during the professional phase. These courses take place both inside the classroom and in clinical settings. For example, students take courses like biology, chemistry and medical terminology in addition to courses like microbiology and hematology.

Salisbury University

Salisbury University is located in Salisbury. The school offers a bachelor's degree program in medical laboratory science. This program is split into both pre-professional and professional courses. During the first two-years of the program, students complete their pre-requisite courses. The next three semesters are occupied with upper-level professional courses. The final semester of the program includes a clinical internship in a local hospital. Courses cover diagnostic immunology, clinical microbiology and anatomy.

Stevenson University

Stevenson University, which can be found in Stevenson, also offers a bachelor's degree program in medical technology. This program is designed for students interested in working in medical laboratory scientists or medical technologists. The university offers this program in cooperation with Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. Students take two years of courses in the sciences and liberal arts, a year of liberal arts and professional classes in laboratory medicine, and a final year, which combines professional and clinical courses on the Sinai Hospital campus. Graduates of this program move into careers working in labs dedicated to chemistry, microbiology hematology, blood work, and molecular biology.

University of Maryland-Baltimore

On the Baltimore campus of the University of Maryland, students will find two degree programs dedicated to medical laboratory science. Students can pursue a bachelor's degree program and follow a medical technology research curriculum track. This track trains students to potentially work as clinical laboratory scientists. These scientists consult with physicians and are trained in hematology, immunology and microbiology. The university also offers a master's degree program in laboratory management. Students who have an undergraduate degree in lab technology can take courses in biostatistics, financial management, scientific writing and research methods for managers.
