Sonography is a radiation-free technology that captures images of organs by utilizing sound waves. Medical sonographers study this technology along with anatomy, physiology, and healthcare best practices. Programs that offer training in this field are available at several technical schools and community colleges throughout Texas. Students of medical sonography typically earn an associate's degree, but there are a few certificate programs also available. These programs are intended to prepare students for professional certification, though it is not a requirement in this state.
