Syracuse University in New York, NY

School Highlight: The Department of Marriage and Family Therapy is located in the community so students can gain real-world experience and educate themselves in becoming successful mental health professionals.

Graduate students can pursue a Master of Arts or Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy through the Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. A dual-master's program is also offered as a Master's in MFT and a Master's in Social Work.

Brigham Young University in Provo, UT

School Highlight: The mission of the school's Marriage and Family Therapy programs is to induce positive results in improving the mental health of individuals, couples, and families, by educating students on how to reach those ends.

Through the college's School of Family Life, graduate students can earn a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. The school also offers a Ph.D. program for those with a bachelor's degree. MFT graduate students gain clinical experience at the school's Comprehensive Clinic Building.

Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO

School Highlight: The school offers Colorado's only COAMFTE-accredited MFT program.

CSU's programs are based on a relational/systemic philosophy, adhering to Professional Marriage and Family Therapy Principles (PMFTPS) like AAMFT Core Competencies, AAMFT Code of Ethics, and state licensure regulations. This school offers a master's degree in human development and family studies with two specialization options: marriage and family therapy and prevention science. A related Ph.D. program in applied developmental science is also available.
