West Virginia doesn't have any schools offering programs specifically in natural health; however, students can find several health programs that teach them to help others improve their health through nutrition and exercise. Dietetics and nutrition programs are available at the bachelor's and master's degree levels, and it's common for an internship or practicum to be included near the end of these programs. Students in West Virginia can also find broad health sciences programs that feature specializations related to nutrition and wellness, such as health promotion.
Marshall University is located in Huntington, and its College of Health Professions offers several health-related programs, including undergraduate and graduate programs in dietetics. The bachelor's degree program in dietetics includes courses in biology, chemistry, advanced nutrition, food chemistry, microbiology and exercise physiology. After completing the curriculum, students may elect to enroll in the dietetics internship program, which features 1,200 hours of clinical work over three semesters. The master's degree program in dietetics features concentrations in food and nutrition management, clinical nutrition and community nutrition, and its required courses include three levels of dietetics practicum and administrative dietetics.
