Essential Information

In New Jersey, students can study accounting through associate, bachelor's and master's degree programs; another option is a dual bachelor's and master's degree. Undergraduate certificates and degree program minors are also available.

Some accounting associate degree programs are designed as transfer programs for students who would eventually like to pursue a bachelor's degree. Other associate-level programs are designed to prepare students for entry-level positions, such as accounts payable or receivable clerk.

In some degree programs, accounting may be the main area of study or it may be offered as a concentration within a larger business administration or management program. At the graduate level, students may be able to choose a specialization, such as governmental accounting or taxation.
