York College

York College offers undergraduate degrees in several subjects related to the arts and sciences and also provides professional training for social workers, educators, accountants and health care workers. In addition to a CNA program, the Continuing and Professional Education Department offers training in areas such as home improvement, web development and tax preparation.

Certified Nursing Assistant Program

Students in the CNA training program must complete a total of 120 credit hours in 19 day-long sessions, which is split between classroom instruction, laboratory work and hands-on internship experience. The program covers a wide variety of subjects, including personal care skills, human anatomy and physiology, caring for patients with mental or cognitive impairments and legal and ethical patient treatment. Students also learn basic nursing skills like measuring vital signs, observing and reporting patients' behavior and feeding bedridden patients. An alternate 38-session schedule may be available.

Hostos Community College

Hostos Community College offers educational and vocational training through certificate and associate's degree programs. The CNA program is offered through the Continuing Education and Workforce Development department. In addition to the CNA program, the school also offers practical nursing and registered nursing programs.

Certified Nursing Assistant Program

The CNA program at Hostos Community College requires students to complete coursework in either 26 or 44 sessions. The curriculum includes coursework in patient care, anatomy and physiology. A rotation in a medical facility is also required. Students must be CPR/AED certified.
