Lowest Net Price

To calculate net price, the NCES subtracts the average financial aid awarded to new full-time undergraduates from the total program cost. Three of the five lowest net prices for non-specialty schools in 2014-2015 were found in the City University of New York public university system. Three of the five schools are within a five-mile radius of downtown.

Highest Graduation Rate

To determine graduation rate percentages, the NCES finds the number of full-time undergraduates who finish their studies in 150% or less of the 'normal' amount of time. Two non-specialty schools had rates exceeding 90% for students who started in the autumn of 2009. They are both less than five miles from the downtown core.
