Scholarship Description
$1,000 awarded to a student pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Areas of study that will be considered include computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, database management, computer networking, computer programming and information technology management.

"Thank you so very much for the scholarship award. It will help immensely with my schooling related costs and it is a great honor to receive it. TO answer your questions, I heard about your scholarship through the Green River Community College website. I followed their link, which led me to you. I am currently enrolling in my second quarter of the Information Technology Networking program and I plan to attain my AAS by the fall of 2013. I will also be completing my AAS in Information Technology soon after that as well. I may continue on into a bachelor or find a job in the related field, depending on my family needs.
Winning this award will give me some flexibility in registered for my classes, as well as the freedom to focus on my studies. I am a mother of 5 children, so getting assistance for child care so I can make classes and have time to study has been a challenge.
I have been impressed with the easy navigation of your website and looking at the different colleges and what they have to offer me. I have a 16 year old who is looking at colleges and this has proven to be a great resources for her as well. I would have liked to see more schools listed that were available in our area."
Requirements
Scholarship applicants should be pursuing a degree at the associate degree level or higher in a program related to Computer Science or Computer Engineering including:
Selection & Eligibility Criteria
Selection will be based on academic history and extracurricular activities. Financial need will not be considered.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent U.S. Resident
- Must be enrolled (or accepted) in an accredited college or university and planning on continuing the next year.
- Graduating high school seniors who meet the above mentioned criteria may apply.
- Must have a minimum of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours still to be completed.
- Must consent to provide a digital photograph of self and quote for display on Study.com if notified as the award winner by the selection committee.
Funds
The winner will be notified following the deadline and the award will be sent directly to the recipient by check to the permanent mailing address noted in the application.
Academic award winners who accumulate more than $600.00 in prizes over a one-year period will be issued an IRS form 1099 (or the equivalent). This will require contest winners to provide Study.com with certain personal information prior to receipt of their winnings.
