To enroll in Colorado State University Global's Master of Professional Accounting program, students will need to have taken at least 21 credit hours of upper-division accounting coursework through a major or concentration in accounting. Applicants with accounting experience and no fewer than 15 hours of upper-division accounting coursework or an MBA and 12 hours of accounting credits can also be admitted. All applicants to Colorado State University Global master's degree programs should have an undergraduate degree; some programs may have additional admissions requirements.
Colorado State University Global's Master of Professional Accounting program is designed to prepare students to be Certified Public Accountants. The program is intended to provide deeper knowledge in accounting strategies, qualitative and quantitative analysis, ethical and legal decision making, and adaptability in accounting practices. In addition to core classes that focus on preparing students for the CPA exam, students are required to enroll in courses in a chosen area of emphasis. The courses within each emphasis are designed to provide students with skills unique to one of the following areas of expertise: data analytics, fraud investigations and forensic accounting, auditing and assurance, taxation, and professional accounting. The Master of Professional Accounting program can prepare students to enter the workforce as public accountants or in other roles within financial institutions, government agencies, and non-profit organizations.
