Full Sail University's 20-month, campus-based Bachelor of Science in Music Business program gives students the opportunity to take courses introducing them to the inner workings of the music industry, from marketing and producing to talent representation and scouting. Courses might address such topics as the structure of music-related companies, the evaluation of live and recorded music, contracts, song royalties, music copyrighting, retail distribution of music recordings, and developing and executing tour schedules. Students will also take courses that cover the basics of marketing, business economics, accounting, business law, and management principles. Through a series of project and portfolio courses, students have the chance to apply what they have learned as they create, among other projects, a pitch to a recording label, their own music company (complete with budget, competitive outline, and logo), and detailed music distribution plan.
