Program Description:

Identifying firearms, disassembly and assembly processes, reloading, customizing firearms, and ballistics are among the topics that students could expect to review when they enter Penn Foster's Gunsmith Career Diploma program. Designed to be completed in as little as three months, the program also provides study in the history of handguns, shotguns, and other firearms; welding, soldering, finishing, and other metal techniques; gun stock function; gun licensing requirements; and bullet casting procedures. Practical exercises provide hands-on learning opportunities, wherein students could learn about workshop layout, gunsmithing tools, designing a blueing shop, gun safety training, and gun shows.

All students enrolled in the Gunsmith Career Diploma program are given the learning materials needed to succeed in this program, such as a gun parts catalog; wall charts; NRA Firearms Assembly guides. Students are also given supplemental materials focusing on topics like customizing shotguns and handguns, reloading, and even a firearms glossary. Additionally, they are provided with online access to more than 50 instructional videos addressing engraving, clearing a firearm, disassembly and reassembly techniques, removing a live cartridge, and more.
