Penn Foster's Medical Transcriptionist Career Diploma program combines traditional learning opportunities with online simulations to help students build an understanding of medical transcription tools, practices, and responsibilities. A two-part medical transcription course allows students to work on transcribed reports to perform proofreading and editing tasks and prepare various types of transcribed documents. In addition, students will complete simulations used to strengthen their spelling of medical and laboratory terms as well as drug names. Other courses cover medical billing and reimbursement processes, medical office procedures, medical terminology, names of body systems and their functions, disease treatments, and electronic health records management. This program is designed to help students prepare for professional certification offered through the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI).
