Program Description:

Regent University's Master of Education in K-12 Special Education - General Curriculum Licensure program is intended for students who are interested in completing a master's degree and earning a Virginia teaching license along with an endorsement in Special Education-General Curriculum K-12.

Students in this program have the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive study of special education pedagogy that includes coursework in child development, disability identification and intervention, behavior and social skills, instructional methods, assessment, and assistive technology. The curriculum also covers special education law and best practices as well as professional collaboration and consultation.

To prepare students for licensure, this program includes opportunities to participate in supervised field experiences and work in a real classroom with a mentor teacher. Finally, students have a chance to complete a culminating portfolio project as a means of demonstrating understanding of the program's core competencies.
