Program Description:

The Criminal Justice specialization in the Master of Science in Forensic Psychology online program at Walden University offers a curriculum that is self-designed so students can concentrate on criminal behavior, disaster and crisis management, or policy and law. This program aims to advance analytical and legal research skills to deepen students' knowledge of crime as it relates to the legal system, practitioners of law, and the support of victims and first responders. Students could gain skills in criminal profiling, learn the foundations of criminology, and explore the conduct of psychopaths, perpetrators of sex crimes, and serial criminals. Learners have the chance to take an in-depth look at supreme court case-studies, debates between civil and government rights, the role of law enforcement, and policy development. This program gives an overview of the principles of forensic psychology and the skills needed to be successful at the graduate level in one foundational course and five core courses. Students will also apply skills learned in a capstone project or by participating in a 12-week field experience at the end of the program.
