Essential Information

Texas students seeking quality assurance training can find a variety of options at 2-year and 4-year schools throughout the state. Refresher courses are available for individuals already certified as quality auditors, Six Sigma Green Belts or quality engineers. Students new to the field will find associate's and bachelor's programs along with certificates in such areas as quality assurance and control management, water treatment and chemical lab technology. These programs give students hands-on training in quality assurance and other topics through labs and practicums. Graduate programs in industrial engineering or manufacturing systems also offer courses in quality assurance.

Austin Community College

Austin Community College in Austin offers refresher courses for the credentials Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Six Sigma Green Belt and Certified Quality Engineer. The Certified Quality Auditor refresher course covers audit reporting, audit performance, audit preparation and ethics. It also examines techniques and tools, such as flow charts, sampling theory, pattern analysis and descriptive statistics. The Certified Quality Engineer refresher course covers project management, quality information systems, experiment design, improvement techniques, risk management, cost analysis and sampling. The Certified Six Sigma Green Belt examines lean enterprise, experiment design, statistical applications and project management, among other topics. Courses require students to take sample exams, and the answers are discussed in class.

Northwest Vista College

Situated in San Antonio, Northwest Vista College offers a water resource science certificate and associate's degree programs. The programs include a course in quality control and quality assurance. The course covers quality control and/or quality assurance procedures. The procedures are used to check the results of the samples or procedures. The course covers check sample, blank preparation, control tables and documentation.

Texas State Technical College

Texas State Technical College in Waco offers an Associate of Applied Science in Environmental Technology with a concentration in compliance specialization. Students learn to do lab work in environmental sampling, environmental and chemical analysis and control and quality assurance. Generally, there are about 20 students in each class. Students get a lot of hands-on experience in various work settings and in operating the equipment and instruments.

Texas Tech University

Situated in Lubbock, Texas Tech University offers graduate programs in industrial engineering, and systems and engineering. The degree programs include courses in quality assurance and manufacturing, and quality assurance and statistics. Courses include total quality assurance, off-line and on-line quality assurance, programmable control systems and process planning.
