West Georgia Technical College
This school belongs to the Technical College System of Georgia and is the state's 4th-largest technical college. Its focus is to serve students from Meriwether, Troup, Heard, Carroll, Douglas, Coweta and Haralson counties through more than 100 programs of study, including three in radiologic technology and related areas.
Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology
This 2-year program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to seek employment in the healthcare field of radiology and is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Classroom instruction and clinical education focus on routine radiography, radiation therapy, ultrasound and nuclear medicine, trauma radiography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computer tomography (CT) and pediatric radiography. Upon successful completion of this program, graduates can take the national certification examination for radiographers.
This 12-credit program caters to post-graduate registered radiographers, preparing them for the mammography national certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Applicants must already be ARRT-certified in radiography.
CT Specialist Certificate
This program consists of 21 credit hours and caters to post-graduate registered radiologic technologists, registered radiation therapists or registered nuclear medicine technologists. Prospective students must be ARRT-certified in radiography, radiation therapy or nuclear medicine.
Emory University was founded in 1836 by the Methodist Episcopal Church. The School of Medicine offers educational programs in medical imaging that are fully accredited by the JRCERT.
Bachelor of Medical Science (B.M.Sc.) in Medical Imaging
This program focuses chiefly on CT and MRI training, but also covers leadership skills. Students learn how to evaluate radiographic images and proficiently use radiologic equipment. Required courses address anatomy and physiology, medical imaging processing and procedures, medical terminology, computer applications and pharmacology.
Radiologic Technologist to B.M.Sc. in Medical Imaging
This program was designed to cater to credentialed radiologic technologists seeking a bachelor's degree in medical imaging. Students can choose from women's health, radiography education, radiography administration, CT, MRI or interventional radiology tracks.
