Medgar Evers College
Medgar Evers College is located about 6 miles from the downtown New York City area. The School of Science, Health and Technology's nursing department offers associate and bachelor's degree programs in nursing in addition to a practical nursing certificate.
Certificate in Practical Nursing
The Medgar Evers College's practical nursing program requires 18 months of study, and graduates are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). Courses in the program include practical nursing, nutrition, pharmacology, surgical nursing, psychological nursing and a review course for the state board. The program includes classroom courses and clinical hours for practical nursing.
LaGuardia Community College
LaGuardia Community College, located about 3 miles from the New York City area, offers over 50 associate degree programs and four certificate programs. Students may pursue an associate degree in nursing, leading to a registered nursing license, or a practical nursing certificate in the school's health sciences department.
Practical Nursing Certificate

Hostos Community College
Hostos Community College is located about 6 miles from the downtown New York City area and offers students an education in nursing at the school's allied health department. Students may complete an associate degree program, leading to a career as a registered nurse, or the practical nursing certificate program.
Certificate in Practical Nursing
The practical nursing certificate program at Hostos Community College requires students to complete 45.5 credits. The student must complete 27 general education credits in courses such as English and mathematics. The nursing courses in the certificate program include pharmacology, clinical nursing, microbiology, anatomy and physiology.
