Erwin Technical College

Erwin Technical Center offers a daytime cosmetology program. Interested students must take placement tests in reading, language and math if they don't already hold a degree.

Cosmetology Program

The 1,200-hour program prepares students to pass the Florida State Board of Cosmetology Examination. Coursework covers skin, nail and hair treatments. Students can learn about makeup application and facial procedures. The program can be completed within 14 months.

Pinellas Technical College

Pinellas Technical Education Center offers a cosmetology program at its Clearwater campus. The school gives students the chance to attend either morning or afternoon classes.

Cosmetology Program

The cosmetology program at Pinellas Technical Education Center prepares students to become licensed cosmetologists in the state of Florida. The program is divided into four courses and can be completed in just over 13 months. Students learn how to perform hair, nail and skin services, including facials, makeup applications and hair removal services.

Manatee Technical College

Manatee Technical Institute offers three career preparation programs that include courses in skin care. All three of these programs are offered through the school's Human Services Department.

Facials Specialty for Licensure Program

The 260-hour program covers skin care techniques. Coursework includes hands-on activities. Students learn about facial cleansing, lash and brow tinting, skin toning and hair removal methods.

Advanced Esthetics Certificate

The 600-hour, advanced program is a continuation of the facials specialty program. The program is designed to assist licensed skin care specialists in updating their skills. The coursework combines theory-based learning with practical experiences. Students who pass an examination are awarded a certificate.

Cosmetology for Licensure Program

The 1,200-hour program combines theory and hands-on instruction in skin, hair and nail care. Students develop their skills by practicing on each other and on mannequins. Students can also gain experience by working on customers in the school's full-service salon.

Other Schools

Skin care courses are also available at Artistic Nails and Beauty Academy, located about four miles from downtown Tampa, Paul Mitchell the School - Tampa, located nine miles away, and Cortiva Institute, located just over 45 miles away. All three of these options are for-profit schools.
