Tarrant County College District

Tarrant County College District is a 2-year public institution that enrolls more than 50,000 students. This school offers a certificate program in electronics technology and an associate's degree program in electronics and telecommunications at the South Campus.

Certificate of Completion in Electronics Technology

Students in this certificate program learn how to operate, maintain and repair electronic equipment. This training is ideal for those seeking entry-level positions as electronics technicians. The curriculum includes courses in mathematics, direct current and alternating current circuits, solid state circuits, computer networking technology and programmable logic controllers. A capstone course completes the certificate program.

Associate of Applied Science in Electronics and Telecommunication

This 2-year program combines general education courses in English, math, speech and social science with technical coursework in electronic device programming, computer systems maintenance, advanced microprocessors and linear integrated circuits. Like the certificate program, a capstone course is required during the final year.

University of Texas at Dallas

The University of Texas at Dallas is a 4-year public institution enrolling more than 25,000 students. The school offers both graduate and undergraduate degrees in telecommunications engineering.

Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications Engineering

This undergraduate program teaches the engineering principles behind telecommunications technologies, like optical and wireless networks, television broadcasts and cell phones. Students who complete the program are eligible for entry-level employment in fields such as electronics engineering, computer engineering and systems analysis. The curriculum is infused with math and science courses and emphasizes problem solving and experiment design.

Master of Science in Telecommunications Engineering

Electives such as coding theory, signal processing, frequency engineering and optical network protocols follow.

Doctor of Philosophy in Telecommunications Engineering

Core and elective coursework for the doctorate is similar to the master's degree program. However, students in the doctoral program can specialize in subjects such as optics, wireless communications, digital signal processing and network security.
