Hillsborough Community College
Hillsborough Community College offers students the opportunity to pursue certificate and associate's degree programs. Some of the areas of study include business, public service, health sciences, automotive, engineering and manufacturing and health sciences. The media arts technology department offers digital programs in multimedia technology, television and media production, video editing and postproduction and multimedia game authoring.
Certificate in Television Production
The television production certificate consists of 12 credits and provides students with basic training in the field. Students are required to complete four classes, including electronic field production, broadcast techniques, advanced TV studio production and advanced electronic field production.
Certificate in Broadcast Production
Students enrolled in this certificate program have an opportunity to learn through academic coursework and an internship. The program is 24 credits and requires students to complete courses in broadcast techniques, TV studio production, broadcast news, radio production and broadcasting and electronic field production.
Associate in Science in Digital Television and Media Production
Students enrolled in this A.S. degree program must complete 60 credit hours prior to graduation, including general education classes, an introduction to broadcasting, a broadcasting practicum and two radio and television internships. The A.S. program is designed for students who wish to gain immediate employment in the television industry after graduation or transfer credits to a 4-year undergraduate program.
Students enrolled at Southeastern University can pursue educational opportunities at the undergraduate and graduate level. Colleges at this private school, which is affiliated with the Assemblies of God Church, include Arts and Sciences, Education, Business and Legal Studies and Christian Ministries and Religion. The Department of Communication offers programs in broadcasting, communication, film studies, journalism/public relations and theatre.
Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in Broadcasting
Students interested in pursuing a broadcasting degree at Southeastern University have two track options. The Bachelor of Arts track is designed for students who want to pursue graduate study, while the Bachelor of Science track prepares students for employment. The curriculum in both tracks is similar; however, BA students are required to complete a language course requirement, and BS students culminate their degree with an internship.
State College of Florida - Manatee - Sarasota
The State College of Florida - Manatee - Sarasota offers a wide variety of programs at the certificate, associate's and bachelor's degree level. Educational and training opportunities are available in theater, dental hygiene, nursing, natural sciences, radiography and language and literature. The Art, Design and Humanities Department offers programs in arts, film and multimedia, graphic design and humanities.
Associate of Arts Transfer Degree - Motion Picture/TV/Recording Art/TV Technology Focus
This AA transfer degree program requires 36 credits of general education courses. Students also complete at least 24 credits in their chosen discipline. The focus on motion picture/TV/recording art/TV technology includes introductory classes in film and television history, production, writing, broadcasting and mass communication. Students also have the opportunity to take a class involving career decision and work experience in film/video.
