Columbia University - New York, NY

Columbia University, an Ivy League school and one of the oldest colleges in the U.S., placed fifth of all national universities on the U.S. News & World Report in 2017. The university's Organization and Leadership Department is located within the Teacher's College and emphasizes both organizational and social psychology. Graduate students can earn a Master of Arts (M.A.) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Organizational Psychology. They can also take part in a number of research projects. The faculty of Columbia's Social-Organizational Psychology program have an extensive array of relevant research interests, including counseling psychology, business management, and organizational behavior.

MSU - East Lansing, MI

Michigan State University (MSU) is a four-year public school that ranked first for graduate industrial and organizational psychology schools in 2013, according to U.S. News & World Report. The university offers a Ph.D. in Industrial Organizational and Psychology. Roughly 15-20 full-time students are accepted into this graduate program each year, which is overseen by eight main faculty members. Qualified graduates may find research positions with the government or major corporations, or pursue academic faculty positions. Penn State - University Park, PA

Pennsylvania State University, also known as Penn State, is a four-year public school that placed 14th in top public schools on the U.S. News & World Report in 2017. The Industrial/Organizational Psychology program at Penn State was developed by Dr. Bruce V. Moore, the first American to hold a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. The program leads to a Ph.D. and combines practical experience with research and coursework. Once enrolled, students attend seminars and complete a dissertation. Graduates may pursue careers in a variety of different settings, including academia, industry, and the military.

The Chicago School - Chicago, IL

The Chicago School of Professional Psychology offers a Master of Arts in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, with an optional concentration in human resources. Over the course of the program, students take courses in a wide variety of topics, including hiring, training, leadership, performance evaluation, and motivation. All students complete two internships, and a thesis track is available. Community partnerships provide students with real-world training.
