University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee

The University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee offers 194 degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels through 14 colleges and schools. Sonography is one of seven submajors within the Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences program. Other submajors include radiologic technology and diagnostic imaging as well as four laboratory submajors: biomedical sciences, cytotechnology, medical laboratory science and public health microbiology.

Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences - Diagnostic Medical Sonography

This 4-year program consists of two years of classroom instruction and labs, then two years of professional studies in medical facilities. The program offers two tracks of study in general sonography and echocardiography; each concentration requires anatomy, statistics and diagnostic health care courses. The general sonography track provides training in obstetric, gynecologic, neuro- and vascular sonography. Students specializing in echocardiography learn ultrasound techniques and procedures for pediatric and adult patients, as well as fetal sonography.

Concordia University - Wisconsin

Concordia University - Wisconsin offers undergraduate degree programs through 12 departments. The Health Professions and Clinical Sciences Department provides students with an opportunity to pursue programs in diagnostic medical sonography, nursing, medical assisting, athletic training, exercise physiology and radiologic technology. Located just north of Milwaukee, the university boasts a 100% employment rate for graduates of its bachelor's degree program in sonography.

Bachelor of Science in Sonography

High school students interested in the sonography program are encouraged to take anatomy, biology and physics courses prior to applying. The 4-year program begins with two years of training in abdominal, obstetric, gynecological and vascular ultrasound.
