Cosumnes River College

Cosumnes River College offers students the opportunity to pursue employment opportunities after graduation or continue their education at a 4-year institution. The certificate and degree programs are housed under the divisions of business and family science; careers and technology; communication, visual and performing arts; library and technology services; humanities and social science; kinesiology, health and athletics; science, math and engineering; and student services and counseling. In addition to the diagnostic medical sonography programs, the Careers and Technology Division offers programs in allied health, veterinary technology, emergency medical technology, medical assisting, health information technology and nutrition and foods.

Certificate of Achievement/Associate of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography

The Certificate of Achievement and Associate of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography have the same core requirements. Both the certificate and associate's degree programs have 60 credits of core requirements and combine academic coursework with professional experience. The curriculum includes coursework in ultrasound physics and instrumentation, abdominal scanning and pathology, small parts scanning, OB/GYN scanning, vascular scanning and sonography interpretation. Directed practices are offered in OB/GYN and abdominal scanning.
