Located in Provo, Brigham Young University has a bachelor's degree program in communications that features several areas of emphasis. Students are required to complete 31 credits of core courses in visual media, mass media and society, interpersonal theory and professional presentations. The program offers emphases in advertising, news media and public relations. Broadcast-related courses include multimedia video journalism, broadcast media principles and practices, video and film production and broadcast performance. The program also requires that students participate in an internship.
Salt Lake Community College
The Communication Department at Salt Lake Community College in Salt Lake City offers an Associate of Applied Science in Video/Radio production. Other offerings include speech communication and mass communications. The school gives students the chance to gain practical experience in the field through a student-run newspaper, news station and radio station.
Snow College is located in Ephraim, and students at the school can pursue an associate's degree in communication. The broadcasting emphasis includes coursework in radio production, radio performance, television production and creative writing. Utah State University
A broadcast/electronic media emphasis is offered through the bachelor's degree program in journalism and communication at Utah State University in Logan. Students in this program have an opportunity to learn about audio production, creating and distributing video, scriptwriting and electronic media equipment. Students are required to participate in a semester internship. Emphases in print journalism and public relations/corporate communication are also available.
Weber State University
Weber State University is located in Ogden and has a bachelor's degree program in communication with several concentrations, including digital media.
