The Colorado School of Mines is located in Golden, Colorado approximately 15 miles east of Denver. The most popular majors are engineering, physics, mathematics and statistics, economics and population studies. The Colorado School of Mines offers bachelors, masters and doctoral level degree programs.

Located in the north central suburban community of Golden, the Colorado School of Mines maintains the highest admission standards of any university in the state. The school is #75 on the most recent America's Best Colleges list published by U.S. News & World Report. CSM also took high honors for having one of the best engineering programs in the country.

The Colorado School of Mines is best described as a public research university devoted to engineering and applied science. There are 1,200 undergraduate students in the engineering department, which focuses on civil, electrical, environmental, and mechanical specialties.

CSM offers bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees through their many different schools and colleges. Not surprisingly, the most popular major at Mines is engineering, followed distantly by physics, mathematics and statistics, economics, and population studies.

Only 84 percent of incoming freshman are accepted for admission at Colorado School of Mines. Students who are accepted typically have a grade point average of 3.7 and SAT test scores between 1,140 and 1,330.

The average undergraduate class has 26 students and the student-to-faculty ratio is 14:1. And nearly all graduates enter the job market in a field related to their major within one year of graduation.
