Mississippi State University is located in Starkville, Mississippi approximately 120 miles northeast of Jackson. The most popular undergraduate degrees are business, management, marketing, education, engineering and agriculture. Mississippi State University offers bachelors, masters, specialist and doctoral level degree programs.

Mississippi State University is located in north east-central Mississippi in the rural community of Starkville. The largest university in the state, MSU is nationally ranked in the America's Best Colleges report. Among the many great academic programs at MSU is the College of Veterinary Medicine, the largest veterinary school housed under one roof in the nation.

Part of the university's 4,200-acre campus includes farms, pastures and woodlands of the Experiment Station. MSU is recognized for its educational and technological contributions, and it is ranked among the top 100 universities in the nation for research and development in the sciences and engineering.

Mississippi State awards bachelor's, master's, specialist and doctorate degrees through eight schools and colleges. Nearly 25 percent of students major in business, management and marketing. Other popular majors include education, engineering, agriculture and interdisciplinary studies. Pre-professional programs are offered in law, dentistry, medicine, theology, veterinary science, optometry and pharmacy.

Mississippi State University has a rich social environment with an active Greek life, student government, activities board and many successful athletic teams. The MSU Bulldogs compete in the N.C.A.A. Division I in the Southeastern Conference.

Considered a 'more selective' institution, Mississippi State accepts 70 percent of applicants. Typical incoming freshmen carry a grade point average of 3.2 and submit ACT test scores between 20 and 27. The majority of students also graduate in the top 50 percent of their high school classes.
