College Transfer Process Video Overview

  1. Good Reasons to Transfer
    • One good reason to transfer colleges is if an academic major or program you wish to pursue is not available at your current college or university.
    • Ask yourself what you need and want from a college, and define what academic experience will nurture you towards academic and life success.
  2. The Process of Transferring
    • Decide the best time for transferring colleges; for example, if your high school grades were not so good, you may want to wait until after your sophomore year.
    • Do your research on the institution you wish to transfer to, and be prepared to work hard to make the transfer work successfully.
  3. Adjusting to Your New School
    • Go to orientations and receptions at your new college.
    • Make an appointment quickly to review your transfer credits in both your major and general education areas.
    • Live on campus, if possible, and make efforts to become part of the social culture.
