Towson University is located just outside of Baltimore in Towson, Maryland. The most popular majors among undergrads are business administration, mass communication, psychology, elementary education and radio and television. Towson University offers certificates in addition to bachelors, masters and doctoral level degree programs.

Located in suburban Towson just eight miles north of Baltimore, Towson University is Maryland's largest producer of teachers. As a part of the University System of Maryland, which is the nation's 12th-largest public university system, Towson is recognized among the nation's best regional public universities in the America's Best Colleges report.

Towson awards certificates, as well as bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in more than 100 academic programs. The most popular major is business administration, followed by mass communication, psychology, elementary education, and radio and television. Pre-professional programs are offered in law, dentistry, veterinary science, optometry and pharmacy.

In addition to offering one of only 100 undergraduate programs in gerontology in the nation, Towson is nationally recognized for its excellent programs in the arts and sciences, communications, business, health professions, education, fine arts and computer information systems. Towson is also the only public university in the United States offering an undergraduate degree in e-Business.

With Washington, D.C. and Annapolis less than an hour away, Towson has established many interdisciplinary partnerships with public and private organizations which provide opportunities for research, internships and jobs, as well as cultural and educational resources.

With a 'selective' admission process, Towson has a 69 percent acceptance rate. Typical incoming freshman carry a grade point average of 3.4 and SAT scores between 970 and 1,170. Towson has a diverse student population with over 800 international students from 100 nations.
