Located on a 1,200-acre coastal woodland campus along the Pacific Ocean, the University of California - San Diego has become known as one of the top institutions for higher education and research. UCSD is also top-ranked in the nation for annual federal research and development spending. University researchers consistently earn international acclaim as Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners. More than 400 registered clubs and organizations are available for student participation. The UC San Diego Triton student-athletes participate in the N.C.A.A. Division II.

UC San Diego is considered 'most selective' in its admission process with a 49 percent acceptance rate. Typical incoming freshmen carry a grade point average of 3.9 and submit SAT test scores between 1,140 and 1,360. Most all of accepted students graduate in the top 10 percent of their high school classes.
