Cornell University is located in Ithaca, New York approximately 50 miles south of Syracuse. The most popular undergraduate majors are engineering, business, biology and social sciences.

Cornell University is a private institution located in Ithaca. Founded in 1865, the school is a member of the Ivy League and widely considered to be among the elite institutions in the nation. Cornell is ranked 12th overall in the America's Best Colleges report.

Established in a tradition of providing a comprehensive, well-rounded education, the school places emphasis on having programs of the highest quality across a broad spectrum of academic disciplines. Included among the esteemed programs are medicine, architecture, business and engineering.

Cornell's 745-acre campus is located in a city of about 30,000 in central New York State and features stately architecture, manicured lawns and ivy-covered walls. In addition to its idyllic setting, the university has an impressive system of libraries, research centers and other academic buildings that provide students with access to some of the best facilities in the country. Recreational activities are also available through more than 860 campus organizations.

Cornell University offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs through 14 schools and colleges. Interdisciplinary studies and independent research are both points of emphasis for the university. Popular majors among Cornell undergrads include engineering, business, biology and social sciences.

Cornell University has an undergraduate student body of more than 14,000 and is considered one of the 'most selective' schools in the nation, with a freshman acceptance rate of 25 percent. Incoming students typically score between 1280 and 1490 on the SAT and between 28 and 32 on the ACT.
