The University of Georgia is located in Athens, Georgia approximately 60 miles northeast of Atlanta. The most popular degrees are psychology, biological sciences, English language and literature, political science and marketing management. The University of Georgia offers certificates in addition to bachelors, masters and doctorate level degree programs.

The University of Georgia, which is located in the urban community of Athens about 60 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta, hosts a main campus of 380 buildings on 615 acres. The university ranks at #59 on the America's Best Colleges list, and boasts one of the largest and most comprehensive public service programs by an American educational institution.

In addition to its overall high ranking, Georgia ranked in the top 30 best business departments category for its programs in accounting, real estate, insurance and risk management and management information systems. The University of Georgia's study abroad and exchange program includes 170 different programs in 24 countries, and UGA ranks ninth in the nation for the number of students studying abroad.

Students who attend the University of Georgia can earn certificates, as well as bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees from the university's 16 schools and colleges. Pre-professional programs are also offered in law, dentistry, medicine, theology, veterinary science, optometry and pharmacy, and professional degrees are offered in law, pharmacy and veterinary medicine. The most popular majors at UGA are psychology, biological sciences, English language and literature, political science and government and marketing management.

University of Georgia students take part in over 500 registered organizations, including 59 fraternities and sororities. Student athletes participate in nine men's and 12 women's varsity sports and compete in N.C.A.A. Division I as a member of the Southeastern Conference. The Georgia Bulldogs have won 27 national championships, including 17 since 1999.

University of Georgia applicants compete in a 'more selective' admission process with a 58% acceptance rate. Typical incoming freshmen have a grade point average of 3.8 and SAT test scores between 1,130 and 1,320.
