The University of Louisville is located in Louisville, Kentucky. The most popular majors among undergraduates are business, management, marketing, social sciences, engineering and psychology. The University of Louisville offers certificates in addition to associates, bachelors, masters and doctoral level degree programs.

Located just three miles from downtown Louisville, the University of Louisville is a research university with three campuses, including the Health Science Center affiliated with the University of Louisville Hospital, and the National Crime Prevention Institute and Information Technology Resource Center.

U of L, as it is called, is ranked among national universities on America's Best Colleges list of 2008. Its programs in business and entrepreneurship also took top 100 honors in the nation. The university's Health Sciences Center is also among the most innovative in the country, providing groundbreaking developments such as the first cervical cancer vaccine and the first self-contained artificial heart transplant.

The University of Louisville awards certificates, as well as associate's, bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in 170 fields of study through 11 colleges and schools. More than one-fifth of students major in business, management and marketing, followed by social sciences, engineering, psychology, and communication and journalism.

Campus life is very active with over 200 registered student organizations to choose from, including 22 fraternities and sororities, various student activities, honor societies, and religious, minority and international organizations. The Louisville Cardinals have become one of the top tier teams of the Big East Conference, and compete in nine men's sports and 12 women's sports.

Considered a 'more selective' school, Louisville has a freshman acceptance rate of 71 percent. Incoming students typically carry a grade point average of 3.5 and have ACT test scores ranging from 21 to 27.
