The University of Northern Iowa is located just outside of Waterloo in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Some popular majors include elementary education and teaching, business administration and management, liberal arts and sciences, marketing and accounting. The University of Northern Iowa offers bachelors, masters and doctorate level degree programs.

The University of Northern Iowa, located in urban Cedar Falls and just west of Waterloo, has several excellent academic programs, including math and computer science.

Northern Iowa awards bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees through six major colleges and in 120 majors. The most popular majors are elementary education and teaching, business administration and management, liberal arts and sciences, marketing, and accounting. The student-to-faculty ratio is 16:1 and 92 percent of classes have fewer than 49 students.

Students at NIU can participate in roughly 270 registered student organizations, including 14 fraternities and sororities, a student-run newspaper and radio station, and various religious, minority and international student groups. The University of Northern Iowa purple and gold Panthers participate in 8 men's and 10 women's intercollegiate sports. Athletic teams compete at the Division I level of the N.C.A.A.

UNI is 'selective' in its admission process, with a 78 percent acceptance rate. Most incoming freshmen graduate in the top 50 percent of their high school classes and have ACT test scores between 21 and 26.
